Freedom Leisure raises over £130,000 for the British Heart Foundation South East of England
Not-for-profit trust Freedom Leisure has raised £130,636 ($213,127) for the British Heart Foundation in the last year through a series of sponsored events and collections at its centres in Sussex, Kent and Surrey (South East England).
Key fundraising events include the Surrey Half Marathon, ‘Ramp up the Red’ day in which staff and members were asked to wear something red and donate what they could – and a number of indoor cycling marathons.
Guildford Spectrum Leisure Centre was named the top performing site in the group raising a total of £3,573. The Centre was recently awarded a certificate by the British Heart Foundation in recognition for its hard work.
How did it start?
The British Heart Foundation is Freedom Leisure’s charity of choice.
Objectives
To raise awareness and raise as many funds as possible for the British Heart Foundation through a series of events and collections.
Gymtopia Comment
Great work from the staff and customers of Freedom Leisure. This is now a multi-year partnership between the two organisations and the funds raised will help support further research into the causes and treatment of heart disease and allow the British Heart Foundation to continue educating the public on good heart health.
